Dhanush is an Indian actor, director, producer, playback singer, dancer, and lyricist who is known for his work in the Tamil film industry. He has starred in more than 44 films throughout his career and has received several accolades including four National Film Awards, a Filmfare Award, five Edison Awards, 13 SIMA Awards, seven Filmfare Awards South, five Vikatan Awards, and nine Vijay Awards. Dhanush has also appeared in the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list six times. Dhanush joined the showbiz business after being pressured by his brother and director Selvaraghavan. In 2002, he made his acting debut with the coming-of-age film ‘Thulluvadho Ilamai.’ His first major break in Tamil cinema came with the 2003 film ‘Kaadhal Kondein.’ Following this, he went on to appear in films like ‘Pudhukottaiyilirundhu Saravanan,’ ‘Sullan,’ ‘Aadukalam,’ ‘Polladhavan,’ and ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini,’ among several others. In 2011, he gained international attention with his song ‘Why this Kolaveri Di,’ which became the first Indian video song to cross 100 million views on YouTube. In 2013, he made his Bollywood debut with ‘Raanjhanaa.’ Dhanush is married to Rajnikanth’s eldest daughter Aishwarya and the couple has two sons.
